Review

Event Overview:

The New England Science Symposium provides student and fellow researchers the opportunity to share their work with peers and experts. Presenters will be assessed based on five key categories: Background, Methodology, Results, Discussion, and Presentation.

Judging teams of two judges will be assigned to each poster presentation. Presenters self-selected primary and secondary categories applicable to their research during their application and these self-selections have been used to identify award eligibility and scientific category of research for presentation at today’s event.

In-Person Judging:

  • Date/Time: Sunday, March 30th

    • Judges Check-In:

      • Session 1: 8:45am- 9:45am

      • Session 2: 10:15am-11:15am

    • Judging: 12:00-2:00pm

    • Judging Deliberations: 2:45-4:00pm- Judges will meet in separate event rooms to deliberate on winners.

  • Venue: Joseph B. Martin Conference Center, Harvard Medical School, Boston, MA

  • There will be an ePosterBoards Judges Help Desk located on each level of the poster session to provide technical support.

  • During Check-in, judges will receive a tablet with their ballot pulled up. You will get a refresher on how to use the tablet to judge.

  • At 11:15 AM, we ask you proceed to your deliberation room, listed on your badge, to review the logistics for the poster session and receive lunch.  You are welcome to come earlier and get your name tag and check-in with NESS Staff and volunteers to attend earlier parts of the program.

  • Judges will be assigned 2-4 posters to judge. The judging format will be 5 minutes for the presentation, followed by 5 minutes for questions, and 7-10 minutes to deliberate with fellow judges and complete your ballot.

  • When judging is completed, please return tablet back to the ePosterBoards Judges Help Desk.

Judging Info

In-Person Judging Steps:

  1. Come to the ePosterBoards Judges help desk during the check-in window (March 30th at 8:45-9:45am for Session 1 Judges and 10:15am-11:15am for Session 2 Judges).

  2. At the beginning of the judging session, you will receive a tablet with your ballot already loaded.

  3. Judges will be judging all the poster presenters assigned in each session.

  4. Each presenter will have 5 minutes to present and 5 minutes to answer questions. Judges have 7-10 minutes to deliberate with fellow judges and complete their ballot.

  5. At the conclusion of the session, finalize scores and return your tablet to the ePosterBoards Judges help desk.

Judges Assignment List

Click on the orange button on the right hand side of the screen to view an interactive assignment sheet. Note, you may be listed as Judge 1 or Judge 2. There is a search bar in the upper right of the new window.
